Set up in 2001 by 14 competition authorities (including the Bundeskartellamt) and now numbering over a hundred member authorities, the International Competition Network (ICN) offers competition authorities worldwide an informal, project-based network for intensifying cooperation in issues concerning the implementation of competition law.
The ICN’s working groups deal with issues covering all areas of competition (merger control, cartel prosecution, abuse of a dominant position) as well as a host of cross-sectoral issues.
Cooperation within the working groups is mainly done electronically and in telephone conferences. The results of the working groups are presented for discussion once a year at a plenary session at the ICN annual conference.
Together with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) the Bundeskartellamt chairs the ICN Unilateral Conduct Working Group.
