Rules for electronic communication with the Bundeskartellamt
Only informal contacts are possible via e-mail. No legally binding statements can be made on this basis.
The following e-mail address has been installed as a central contact point for users of this communication channel: poststelle@bundeskartellamt.bund.de.
In order to ensure the confidentiality of communication the opportunity has been created to send encrypted e-mails to the Bundeskartellamt. It is important that all encoded e-mails be sent to the above-mentioned e-mail address for receipt by the mail room of the Bundeskartellamt, where they will be decoded and forwarded to the respective in-house addresses:
- The Bundeskartellamt uses S/MIME and GnuPG encryption.
- The official Bundeskartellamt code necessary for encoding messages with S/MIME can be found via this link: Download des öffentlichen S/MIME Schlüssels .
- S/MIME is supported by most modern e-mail programmes.
You will find information on encoding messages with S/MIME in the help files for your e-mail software.

Should you wish to transmit or send data to the Bundeskartellamt, please note that not all data formats and applications available on the market are supported. The following data formats can currently be used:
- Acrobat Reader from Version 3.0 (.pdf)
- Rich Text Format (.rtf)
- Microsoft Word 97-2003 (.doc)
- Tagged Image Format (.tif)
- Joint Photographic Experts Group (.jpeg, .jpg)
- OpenOfficeOrg-Dokumente from Version 1.1.4
The transmission of data in which macro-functions or similar functions are activated, is not permitted. This data will not be processed!
